Jesus is Hungry for Love

Once upon a time, the wife of a multi-millionaire committed suicide leaving a note that her husband gave her everything except love. Today, many people spend their time, money and talent to provide for the church and church projects but they have very little time for the owner of the church. Jesus wants our heart before our services. Many ministers of Jesus have become so engrossed with the work of Jesus hoping to please him than loving and being with him. Today, Jesus is looking for lovers and not just for workers and servers.

This issue of Jesus wanting our love is seen in Luke 10:38-42 where Jesus visited the home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. On arrival, he took his seat and relaxed as one normally does among his lovers. Mary the wise lady ran to him greeted him and sat down at the Lords feet to listen to his words. They were having a very intimate discussion. Mary felt it was good to be there and was aware that her presence was not to displease Jesus. Martha instead, tried to show her own love by offering all the services .she was busy running around to provide for Jesus.  Martha is working and worrying and does not have time to be with Jesus. Jesus is peace and the person who does not attend to him in peace does not receive him.

 when Martha noticed the unusual intimacy  between Jesus and Mary  which looked like idleness, she started  complaining ‘Lord ,don’t  you care that my sister has left me to do all the serving?” but to her greatest amazement ,Jesus preferred the proximity and intimacy of Mary to the activities of Martha  as Jesus told her ``Martha, Martha, you worry  and are troubled about many things, whereas only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen the better part, and it will not be taken away from her” here we see Jesus praising Mary, not only because she is listening to him, but because she had already decided to follow him. Just like the apostles, Mary has chosen the better part.

Many things seem to be important in a family: cleaning, preparing meals, etc but if there is no time to listen to others, what is life worth? We do many things in the service of God and our neighbor but one thing is very important: being available for Jesus when he is present. Being alone with Jesus is better than anything else on earth. Jesus wants us to find him in our daily work. Spending time with Jesus helps you to know him, love him and serve him better.

That is why it is said on the last day, many will not be saved despite the fact that they performed many miracles and preached to others about Jesus. This is what they will hear ‘I don’t know you”. It is therefore important to note that love for Jesus is better than service. If you plan to live with Jesus for all eternity, then you must learn to become familiar with him here on earth.
