Spiritual and Intellectual Compatibility in marriage

Before choosing a marriage partner, ask yourself these questions?

-What is my intellectual level? What certificates do I have?

-How much formal education do I have?

-What intellectual group of people can I fit into and communicate without feeling inferior?

-Am I inclined to intellectual matters?

-Do I enjoy the realm of ideas or the realm of things and people?

However there are some people with a low level of formal education but through informal education, they have brought themselves up to a very high standard and can therefore fit into any type of company. Though these people are unschooled, they are very philosophical in their approach to every discussion. There are others whose intellectual education has stopped at the level of their formal education .People in this group have many educational certificates but lack knowledge in many domains outside formal education.

Based on this, you need to analyze and know yourself in order to be in the position to say which person of the opposit sex is compatible to you.He or she should be able to satisfy you intellectually depending on what you are intellectually. So do not just look at the certificates. Look at the level of formal and informal education. If he or she will not satisfy you intellectually, then you guys are not perfect for life partners. If you are different in depth of mind, you will not have much to talk about at home and the relationship will be boring.This is just an example.

Another important aspect here is the level of maturity. Some people become mature intellectually at a very young age while others never mature at all. You can have a mature man of 21 and another one that is still a child at 40.This also happens to women. Before you choose a life partner, do not just think of your physical age, what is your maturity age? Are you 5, 10, 15, 20 years old maturity wise?

Once you settle this about yourself, think about the other person you want to marry. what is her actual maturity ?she may be 20 years of age and have a maturity level of a 25 year old person ,whereas you may be 30 years of age but have a maturity of a 5 year old. You may say well am 10 years older than her, so I will make her my wife and forget to realize that although you are older than her in physical age you are 20 years younger in maturity age. How can a 30 years old man like you with a maturity age of a 5 year old child offer leadership to a 20 year old girl who has the maturity of a 25 year old person? That marriage will not last for long. It could be the opposite, that she is 28 years old but is still 5 years old in maturity age. if you are 30 year old in physical age, and 25 years old in maturity age ,don't you see that this 28 year old baby of 4 years maturity age is not the best partner for you?.Think about it.

Spiritual Compatibility.

Do not marry someone who is incompatible to you and start praying that God should change that person. He has not made such a promise to us. If you are a Christ follower, date only people who know Christ personally. Before you ask someone to become your partner, you should assess your spiritual commitment and that of the person you want to marry.

Do not marry a person with the hope that he or she will change .Make a judgment of who he or she is today and know that it will be very difficult to bridge a very big gap in case you guys get married.

If you are committed to the upward call and service of God so that His heart is satisfied, do not lower your standard in order to get married. God surely has a helper fit for you.Do not rush for God is never in a hurry .if you have not yet found him or her, time is not up. You will be happier in future for having waited. It is better to remain single and serve God alone than to be married to someone who has no interest in God. If your purpose in marriage is to satisfy the heart of God, then you should not take this matter of spiritual compatibility lightly.

However do not say if the spiritual area is alright you will serve the lord and not bother about the other areas. A dirty partner may cause you to be angry and this might affect your spiritual life.Take into consideration all the other areas because they also contribute to the success or failure of a marriage. 

How can you know if he or she is having a nice spiritual life? by studing the person and even asking questions like ''Who is driving your life?''.Study the depth of his /her commitment to suffer for Christ, give sacrificially, hate sin, separate his or herself from the world, know the word of God.The Bible says by their fruits,we shall know them.check if this person has the fruits of the spirit namely peace,joy,love,patience,kindness,goodness,faithfulness,gentleness,and self control.Very important.
